A Union teen-ager has been arrested in car break-ins that occurred in the city.

Stevie Laron Harris, 17, of 215 Tate Avenue, was charged Wednesday by the Union Public Safety Department with three counts of breaking into a vehicle and two counts of petit larceny.

James R. Dawkins, 19, of 152 Sunny Acres Road, Union, was arrested in the cases on June 17. Other arrests are anticipated in the cases.

The damaged cars were discovered on the morning of June 17 at Rose Hill Garden Apartments on 175 Industrial Park Road and Union Mill Crossing apartments on 120 North Boyce St.

Three suspects were seen leaving Union Mill Crossing in a light brown car with tinted windows. The car was stopped a short time later by officers, but only Dawkins was inside.

According to arrest warrants signed by Investigator Mickey Parker, speaker boxes were among the items stolen from the vehicles.

Woman arrested

Natesha Toysha Lucas, 30, of 1810 Allen Benedict Court, Columbia, was charged Wednesday by the Union Public Safety Department with forgery.

According to a warrant signed by Investigator Brian Bailey, Ms. Lucas tried to pass a counterfeit Budweiser payroll check at Bi-Lo in Union on April 17.

A report said Officer Angela Cogdill was called to the store after officials became suspicious of the $459 check. The store manager said the check had a Columbia address with no bank information. Cogdill asked Ms. Lucas why she came to Union to cash her check and she said she was in the area to visit her uncle in Whitmire.

Ms. Lucas left the store and left the check and her state identification behind.

Bailey called Budweiser and was told Ms. Lucas had never worked there. She was entered into the National Crime Information Computer as a wanted person.

She was arrested on June 11 in Richland County on a Family Court bench warrant.

Drug charges

A pair from Spartanburg County face drug charges in Union.

Annie Marie Firebaugh, 22, of 345 East Main St., Spartanburg and Ricky Lee Johnson, 25, of 1171 Roddy Road, Campobello, both have been charged by the sheriff’s office with possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II substance.

A report said that a narcotics officer received a tip that the couple would be arriving in the parking lot at the Mini-Mart in Jonesville in a black Avenger with tinted windows and they were attempting to sell a quantity of Oxycontin 80 mg for $55 each.

Officers pulled behind the vehicle and talked with the occupants, Ms. Firebaugh and Johnson and found 20 Oxycontin pills inside the vehicle. $279 in cash was seized from Johnson as well as both his and Ms. Firebaugh’s cell phones.

Money stolen

On 220 Bobo St., a victim told Cpl. Scott Griffin Wednesday that someone took an envelope containing $1,800 from a bedroom. An investigation is continuing.
