Union won 5-2 in game 1. Taylun Wallace was the winning pitcher, giving up four hits, walking one and recording four strikeouts. Day Day Gilkinson was 2-for-3 with an RBI; Ricky Rice was 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs; Dustin Payne had a sac fly and an RBI; Wallace was 2-for-2 with an RBI; Brian Gilkison was 1-for-1.
Union won 4-3 in game 2. Rice was the winning pitcher, giving up six hits and four walks, while recording eight strikeouts.
Bubba Means was 3-for-3; Gilkinson was 1-for-2 with a walk; Devonte Glenn was 2-for-2 with a walk and 2 RBIs; Payne and Wallace each had an RBI.
Union finishes the regular season 14-4 overall, 11-4 and first in region play. The junior team will begin a best 3-of-5 series against York or Lancaster on Monday at Union County Stadium.
“We’ve played hard all year,” said coach Bill Payne. “I’m proud of these guys. The future of Legion baseball in Union is bright. We’ve got a lot of talent coming up.”
Senior team
INMAN — Union’s American Legion team lost 18-5 to Inman on Wednesday.
Heath Gray was 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double and 6 RBIs for Inman.
Inman scored nine runs in the fourth inning.
