The incident occurred sometime between 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7:45 p.m. Wednesday when someone drove onto to the property and struck the light poles, causing an estimated $800 damage.
Investigators found a tire tread pattern consistent with a dually truck at the scene as well as red paint from the vehicle on the poles. Following the tire tracks, investigators found that the vehicle jumped the curb at Rice Avenue Extension, went all the way around the walking trail and exited onto Industrial Park Road.
Car vandalized
The sheriff’s office is also investigating an incident in which vandals damaged a car in the Union area.
The incident occurred sometime between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday when someone damaged the windshield of a 2001 Nissan Maxima parked at 211 Kissy Creek Circle. Investigators found a spider web crack in the windshield that appeared to have been caused by a rock.
Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $200.
License plate stolen
Deputies are searching for a license plate stolen off a car parked on Aiken Road, Jonesville, sometime between May 15 and Wednesday afternoon. The plate, which bears the license number EPN-753, has been listed as stolen with the NCIC.
Larceny
A house undergoing remodeling turned into a crime scene Wednesday night after someone stole lawn equipment, power tools and a cooking pot.
The Union Public Safety Department is investigating the incident, which took place at 304 Rice Ave. The owner told officers that when he returned to his home — which he said is undergoing remodeling — shortly before 9 p.m. he found the following items missing: Black cooking pot ($200); Troy Bilt string trimmer ($140); Snapper string trimmer ($140); Lawn Boy push mower ($150); Black and Decker drill ($79); Black and Decker drill ($150).
Wrong address
The wrong address was listed in Thursday’s paper concerning a report about money taken from a woman’s purse. The incident occurred at 201-B East Main St., not 201-A, which is Carolina Community Actions.
