Odell Vanlue of Whitmire died Monday, June 1, 2009, at Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia.

Mr. Vanlue was born Dec. 3, 1954, in Laurens County. He was the son of Roxie Joyner Vanlue and the late James Vanlue.

He served in the U.S. Army for four years. He was predeceased by two sisters, Earline Long and Lorretta Vanlue.

Surviving are his mother, Roxie Vanlue; three sisters, Diane Wilson of Whitmire, Naomi Means of Greenville and Lynn Vanlue of San Bernardino, Calif.; four brothers, Master Sgt. (retired) Jerry (Teresa) Vanlue of Augusta, Ga., Tommy (Gail) and James Phillip (Robbie) Vanlue, both of Whitmire and Heyward Vanlue of Los Angeles, Calif.; six aunts, two uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 4, 2009, at 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, Highway 121, Whitmire-Newberry.

Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
