Two teen-agers are accused of taking a golf cart from Union County High School earlier this month.

The boys, both 14, have been charged with unlawful entry onto premises and grand larceny. Their names were not released by the Union Public Safety Department because of their ages. Their cases will be heard in Family Court.

Principal Joe Walker reported on Memorial Day that the EZ Go Golf Cart, valued at $4,611, was missing. According to a report, he told Cpl. Dell Mitchell the golf cart had been taken from behind the vocational school area. Mitchell reviewed a security tape that showed the two boys at different times between Friday and Monday take and return the cart. The last time they didn’t bring it back.

Teacher Robert Grady rode the area and found the cart parked in a field at the entrance to the Tanglewood subdivision at Barnado Road.

A lawn maintenance man for the school said he had lost his master keys to the gates. He said it was possible he had left them in the gate and the boys had gotten them. Chief Sam White said the keys have not been recovered.

White said when the boys were charged while they were already in DJJ custody because of a sheriff’s office case.

Burglary arrest

A Union man has been arrested in connection with a burglary that occurred in Buffalo earlier this month.

Richard Dustin Watts, 21, of 229 Fairmont St. was charged Thursday by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with accessory after the fact of a burglary.

The man working for the victim told Cpl. Scott Ruby that someone broke into a house being remodeled on 216 Drugstore St. and took a ceiling fan and removed all the wiring.

Neighbors spotted Watts and two other subjects burning wire at a nearby residence that day.

Watts’ arrest warrant said he assisted in the burning and sale of the wire and received proceeds from the sale.
