The Union County Carnegie Library will be closed for most of next week while its staff is trained to operate an automated catalog system linking it with libraries across the state.

Library director Nancy Rosenwald said Carnegie will be closed Monday-Thursday while the staff is trained for the new SC LENDS consortium of public libraries. Consortium libraries are linked through an automated catalog that allows them to share resources. The catalog will allow patrons to access materials at all member libraries not only from the library but also from their homes and offices and have them delivered to Carnegie.

Library staff will undergo three days of training. The library will reopen Friday and patrons will be able to access the system with library personnel ready to assist them.

For more information call the library at 427-7140.
