Charged with distribution of crack cocaine and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine are Vincent Lamar Palmer, 20, of 249 Wardlaw Ave., Spartanburg; Aaron Michael Gladden Jr., 19, of 116 Lincoln Drive, Spartanburg; Quashawn Latrelle Huff, 19, of 365 Cleveland Chapel Road, Spartanburg; and Bennie Lee Griffin Jr., of 1113 Applegate Circle, Duncan. Huff also was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun because of his age.
Chief Deputy Perry Haney said narcotics officers and patrol deputies made a traffic stop on a 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Friday on Cedar Grove Road near the Disney Plant. The traffic stop came as a result of surveillance of illegal drug activity and an undercover drug buy for the sheriff’s office.
Gladden was the driver, Griffin was a passenger in the front seat and Palmer and Huff were riding in the back seat.
A semi-automatic .45 caliber handgun was taken from Huff. During a search of the back passenger’s seat, officers found what is thought to be crack in an armrest.
The Oldsmobile also was seized.
In the other case, Jose Vela Davilla, 34, and Rodriquez Arturo Aviles, 28, both of 43 Dixie Circle, Greenville, were charged with distribution of marijuana and distribution of marijuana within one-half mile of a Jonesville Elementary School. Haney said officers seized approximately two pounds of marijuana from the men and a 2000 Ford Super Duty pickup truck because the vehicle was being used to transport in excess of one pound of marijuana.
