Willie Florence Sartor Smith, 96, of 1817 Jonesville Highway and formerly of Carlisle, died May 14, 2009, in Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

A native of Union County, she was the widow of John Redmond and the daughter of the late J.C. Sartor and the late Ora Comer Sartor. She was a member of Mt. Eden AME Church.

Survivors include one son, Obie (Mary Frances) Sartor of Carlisle; one daughter, Mary O. Sanders of South Bend, Ind.; one sister, Ethel Ree Powell of Pasadena, Md.; three grandchildren, Willie Mae Younger, Diane Cheek and Debra (Kenneth) Smith; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 18, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Thomas Chapel AME Church. Burial will follow in the Hills Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

The family will receive friends at the home of her son, 672 Pinckney Street, Carlisle.
