The 19-year-old told Sgt. Randy Canupp that he was in the parking lot of the restaurant on 605 North Duncan By-Pass when an acquaintance approached him around 11 p.m. He said at first the suspect acted like a friend, but then had his hand under his shirt as though he had a gun pointing at him and said, “Give me all your money or else.”
The teen-ager said he turned over $360 to the suspect — a black man 18 to 20 years old — who then fled the scene.
The victim said he knew the suspect from school. He said he didn’t immediately call police because he was unsure of what to do. He said he called his mother and then rode around to see if he could locate a car the suspect might be in.
An investigation is continuing.
Warrants signed
Arrest warrants have been signed against a Buffalo wrecker service operator who allegedly pulled a knife on a man and his 11-year-old daughter during the repossession of a vehicle.
Shannon Ray Huffman, 42, of 714 Linersville Road is being treated at Wallace Thomson Hospital. Capt. James McNeil with the Union County Sheriff’s Office said Huffman will be charged with two counts of assault with intent to kill when he is released from care.
According to a report, Cpl. Scott Ruby was called to 2293 Berry Farm Road Tuesday around 8 p.m. A 28-year-old man there said Huffman, the owner of Buffalo Towing, had arrived to repossess a car. The man said Huffman pulled a pocketknife and threatened to cut him, so the man left his residence. The 11-year-old also told Ruby she saw Huffman pull the knife out of his pants pocket, threaten her father and he turned the knife toward her when she yelled at him.
Another child, who is 6, also witnessed the incident and described the knife.
The report said both children were crying and extremely frightened that Huffman would come back to hurt them.
Officers spoke with Huffman, who was waiting down the road. He denied having a knife.
Huffman was hospitalized Wednesday before the warrants could be served on him.
