Four Carlisle teen-agers are accused of taking a necklace at gunpoint from a couple Sunday evening.

Chance Mobley, 19, of 124 Lawrence St., Carlisle; William D. Jeter, 18, of 112 Lawrence St., and Rodney Cornelius Whitener Jr., 18, of 3573 Janie Goree Boulevard all were charged with armed robbery. Whitener also was charged with giving false information to police. A 16-year old who was with the other teen-agers was taken into Department of Juvenile Justice custody. He also will be charged with armed robbery. His name was not released because of his age.

A report said officers were dispatched to Carlisle around 6:20 p.m. after it was reported a robbery had occurred near the park on Cambridge Avenue. Deputies were told that the suspects had left in a gray Jeep Cherokee.

The victims — one a 15-year-old girl and the other a 20-year-old man — said the suspects had followed them as they walked to the Li’L Cricket. When they came out of the building, the suspects were still waiting on them. All of the suspects got into the Jeep and pulled up to them. Whitener and the 16-year-old got out of the Jeep. Whitener put a small revolver to the man’s side and took a gold necklace with a cross off the girl’s neck after the man refused to sell it.

Deputies found all four suspects at 4917 English Ave. in Carlisle standing outside the Jeep. The owner gave deputies consent to search the vehicle, but no gun was found.

Man arrested

Michael Bryant Fleming, 21, of 188 Short St., Union, was charged Friday by the Union Public Safety Department with drawing in affray.

An arrest warrant signed by Officer David Lee said Fleming went to 100 James St. and pulled a knife on a 17-year-old Georgia resident while they were arguing.

Man sought

Public safety officers are looking for a man who tried to break into a business Sunday.

Around 9:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to Sunshine Cleaners on 625 South Pinckney St., after it was reported that a man was kicking the door. They were told the man was black, was wearing a black shirt and black hat that was turned around backwards and he had left walking on West Henrietta Street.

Officers noted damage to the door.

Officers spotted a group at the corner of West Henrietta Street and Lipsey Street. When they saw the patrol car, they ran. A man matching the description of the burglar was seen coming from behind an apartment on Lipsey Street. He was detained by an officer but pulled away and ran.

Stolen items

Someone took a motorized chair for handicapped shoppers at Bi-Lo on 323 North Duncan By-Pass.

The manager told Officer Curtis Eubanks Saturday that a review of a surveillance video made on April 28 showed one white woman and five white men between the ages of 18 and 25 coming into the store together. They walked around and didn’t buy anything. One of the men unplugged the chair and drove it outside into the parking lot.

Employees searched the parking lot and surrounding area, but the chair was not located. It is worth $2,000.

On 120 Seigler Road, a victim told Sgt. Larry Robinson Friday that someone took a 1930 cast iron sink and a World War II bullet from the woods behind her residence. The value of these was not listed on the report.

Saturday, a victim on 114 Lowry St. told Sgt. Randy Manus that someone took a Protrain string trimmer and a gallon gas can from under his house. These are worth $160.

Vandalism

On 422 North Pinckney St., a victim told Sgt. Larry Robinson Friday that someone had spray painted obscenities on a sign. The amount of damage was not estimated at the time of the report.

On 411 South Mountain St., a victim told Officer Curtis Eubanks Sunday that someone used orange spray paint to damage his F-150 Ford truck and his Ford Expedition. Damage was estimated at $700.

Similar damage was reported on 207 Camelot Drive Saturday. A victim told Sgt. Dee Haney with the sheriff’s office that someone used orange spray paint to paint a star on the roof and hood of one vehicle and had broken the front windshield of a 1965 Ford Mustang and a 1993 Nissan. Damage was estimated at $1,100.

On 1460 Bobby Faucette Road, Jonesville, someone spray-painted a mailbox with bright orange paint and also dented it. The victim told Sgt. Dee Haney Sunday he thought the paint used was stolen from his storage building.

Nearby on the 1500 block of the road, someone used the orange paint to spray paint an obscenity on a dump truck that was broken down on the side of the road. Damage was estimated at $500. The truck belongs to a Gaffney company.

On 113 Mark St., a victim told Deputy Russell Roark Monday that she parked her 2002 Pontiac in the driveway and someone broke two windows, flattened all the tires and scratched the vehicle all over. Damage was estimated at $2,000.
