UCHS BOYS SOCCER
Union County’s varsity boys’ soccer team defeated Landrum 5-1 on Tuesday.
Alex Tucker scored two goals; Kyle Saxon, Ben Green and James Walton each scored a goal.
UCHS hosts Chapman on Friday.
UCHS GIRLS SOCCER
LANDRUM — Union County’s varsity girls’ soccer team defeated Landrum 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday.
With 30 seconds left, Danielle Harris scored on a foul shot to tie the game. With two minutes left in the second overtime, Claire Dobson hit a penalty kick to give the Jackets the win.
Rebecca Drum, Harris and Meredith Walker led the defense. Walker had 15 saves.
“We finally came alive at the end of the second half,” said coach Terry Drum. “I’m proud they gutted it out at the end. That showed some character.”
UCHS (3-12) travels to Chapman on Thursday. Senior Night will be Monday against Chester.
The JV girls lost 1-0 to Landrum.

Union County’s varsity baseball team defeated Woodruff 13-3 on Monday.
Keiston Stevens (4-3) was the winning pitcher. Danny Grady singled twice and doubled; Cal Arnold singled and doubled; Brett Duckett had a single; Jarrod Cheek singled; Josh Johnson singled; Adam Lawson singled; Keiston Stevens singled and homered; Scoot Maynor tripled and singled twice; Rob Littlejohn singled; Joe Beatty singled.
UCHS (13-7, 7-3) travels to AC Flora on Thursday to open the playoffs. Game time is 7 p.m.
