Justin Corey Savage, 18, of 223 Pinckney St., Carlisle, and Dominique Demond Adams, 17, of 135 Brooklyn Ave., Carlisle, both were charged with disorderly conduct. Both were taken into custody Tuesday at Union County High School, where they are students.
Sheriff David Taylor said the teen-agers were identified through the statements of others as being present during an incident in the Sartor Avenue/Cambridge Avenue area. Shots were fired from a van and a crowd of people were in the street fighting and using profanity.
Taylor said at least one other arrest may be made.
So far, 29 people, some juveniles and some adults, have been arrested in the incident.
Chance D. Mobley, 17, of 124 Lawrence St., was charged Monday with disorderly conduct. Officers had been looking for Mobley since the incident and took him into custody at his home.
Drug arrest
James Michael Jeter, 25, of 402 Scott St., Union, was charged Tuesday by the sheriff’s office with distribution of crack and distribution of crack within one-half mile of a school or park. A report said an informant purchased a white rock-like substance from Jeter on West Henrietta Street on March 18. The incident occurred within one-half mile of Excelsior Middle School.
Man arrested
Orinthius Jaquez Jerome Byrd, 32, of 143 Sunset Lane, Union, was charged Tuesday by the Union Public Safety Department with giving false information to police, driving under suspension, fifth offense, being an habitual traffic offender and he was given a ticket for a seatbelt violation.
According to the public safety department, when an officer performed a traffic stop on Byrd’s vehicle on Union Boulevard, Byrd told the officer he was someone else.
Thefts
On 215 Blassingame St., a couple told Sgt. Kevin Powers Tuesday that someone took $1,795 worth of rings from a jewelry box in their residence, including a diamond wedding set worth $1,300, a horseshoe ring, a gold ring with five blue stones and a plain gold ring. There were no signs of forced entry.
At Union County High School on Monday, a 17-year-old student told Cpl. Jerome Beatty, school resource officer, that someone took $160 in cash, credit cards, bank debit cards and her pink wallet from her purse.
On 122 Pinewood Drive, a victim told Deputy Roxie Belue he came home and found someone had taken his push mower from his yard and a small window unit air conditioner from the window. These together are worth around $125.
Gun recovered
Tuesday, a Union man told Cpl. Scott Ruby that he was driving home and spotted a gun lying in the middle of Lockhart Highway. He picked it up and also saw the holster lying on the side of the road. He drove home and called 911. Ruby found five live rounds in the cylinder and one empty chamber. The gun is worth around $150.
