Three more people have been arrested on drug charges as a result of “Operation Spring Clean,” a joint narcotics investigation by the Union Public Safety Department, the Union County Sheriff’s Office and the Jonesville Police Department.

— Marion Douglas Booker, 37, of 108 Pine St., was charged Friday by the public safety department with distribution of crack and distribution of crack within one-half mile of a school. Arrest warrants signed by Investigator Mickey Parker said Booker sold crack to a confidential informant on Perrin Avenue on March 12.

— John Anthony Tucker, 28, of 176 Walker Heights, was charged with distribution of crack and distribution of crack within one-half mile of a school. Public safety warrants said Tucker sold crack to an informant on West Henrietta Street on Jan. 30.

— Lovic Eugene Booker Jr., 25, of 4917 Old English Ave., Carlisle, was charged with two counts of distribution of crack, distribution of crack within one-half mile of a school and possession of marijuana. Warrants said Booker sold crack to an informant on the Duncan By-Pass on March 3 and on West Main Street on March 9.

So far, around 25 people have been arrested in the drug roundup.

Union County Sheriff David Taylor said at least seven more arrests are anticipated in the case- some on Union Public Safety Department warrants, some on sheriff’s office warrants.

“Some are on the run,” he said.

Strong armed robbery

A man told Officer Angela Cogdill and Sgt. David Brewington that he gave his 22-year-old friend $8 to go to the store and get him some cigarettes Sunday afternoon. When the man came home, he said four young black men — one wearing a blue bandana — had approached him around East Henrietta Street near the old car wash and asked him for a lighter. They then told him to give them all his money and if he didn’t, they would beat him up. He said he gave them $3.

Cogdill located the victim and spoke with him and he said the story was true.

Man charged in shooting

Haroitas Geneiro Jones, 23, of 2160 West Springs Highway, Jonesville, was charged Saturday by the public safety department with discharging a firearm into a dwelling. An arrest warrant signed by Investigator Brian Bailey said Jones shot a handgun into a home on 107 Tiffany Drive.

The victim told Officer Mike Gregory she was in her living room and someone fired a gun outside her home and the bullet struck the house beside a kitchen window. The bullet went through a wall and struck a bottle on top of a cabinet across the room. Officers found two bullet fragments on the floor.

While officers were on the scene, a witness, who is a relative of Jones, said he had seen Jones in the victim’s backyard on the family’s trampoline. He yelled at Jones and told him to “get out of those people’s yard.” He said he thought Jones fired a gun at him across the road.

Fresh foot prints were found on the trampoline and an empty shell casing was beside the trampoline.

Vandalism cases

The public safety department is investigating several reports of vandalism to vehicles reported over the weekend.

On 720 Lakeside Drive, a victim told Officer Randy Canupp Sunday that someone broke off two of vent visors from her 2002 Honda Civic. Damage was estimated at $50.

Saturday, a woman on 107 Tillman St. told Cpl. Dell Mitchell that someone keyed her 1998 Honda. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

Friday, a Carlisle man told Officer Curtis Eubanks that someone broke out the driver’s side window of his 1987 Chevrolet Caprice while it was parked at 313 Foster St. Damage was estimated at $200 damage.

Around $5,000 damage was caused to a 2002 Buick on 214-C Gault Avenue. The victim told Officer Angela Cogdill on Friday that someone scratched the car on all sides.

Burglaries

Someone tried to break into Keenan’s Barber Shop on 214 North Pinckney St. Friday.

An employee told Sgt. Jermaine Smith that he came to work and found someone had used a blunt object to shatter the front door. Entry was not gained.

On 603 South Pinckney, Officer Curtis Eubanks discovered a break-in Monday morning around 2:25 a.m. A report said Eubanks was on routine patrol when he found the front door glass of the building had been broken out. A cement block was inside. The owner of the building was unknown at the time of the report.
