Blue Ridge defeated Union County’s varsity girls’ soccer team 5-1 on Thursday.

Claire Dobson scored off a penalty kick in the second half for the Jackets.

Blue Ridge had 15 shots on goal and UCHS had two. Meredith Walker had seven saves, Danielle Harris, Shayna Williford and Megan Gregory each had one.

“Our lack of depth and experience at midfield put too much pressure on our defense,” said UCHS coach Terry Drum. “Our defense made several key and costly mistakes. It also denied our offense from ever getting on track.”
