Brett and Frances Burgess of Jonesville announce the engagement of their daughter, Lydia Ann, to Sgt. Charles Robert Conrad, son of Gil and Patsy Conrad of Chester.

A wedding is planned for June 6, 2009, at 5 p.m. at The Greater Union Church, Union.

The bride-elect is a 2007 graduate of Lockhart High School and will graduate from Spartanburg Methodist College in May 2009 with an Associate in Science degree. She is the granddaughter of Pastor John J. Cody Jr. and the late Mrs. Maxine Lee Cody of Union and Charles Burgess and the late Mrs. Alice Burgess of Jacksonville, Ala.

Sgt. Conrad is a 2004 graduate of Lockhart High School. He just returned from his second deployment to Iraq and served a total of four years with the active duty Army out of Ft. Campbell, Ky. He is currently in the Army National Guard. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Conrad Jr. of Chester and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bigger Jackson Sr. of Clover.
