UNION COUNTY — Two men are facing attempted murder charges in two separate incidents this past weekend.
Tommy Wayne McGowan, Jr., 22, of 219 Francis Ave., Union, was charged by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with attempted murder around 3:35 p.m. on Feb. 23 after he cut the throat of man at party the two were attending.
According to the incident report, deputies responded to Wallace Thomson Hospital to speak with an assault victim around 12:40 a.m. Feb. 23. The victim said he was at a party on Bishop Road in Union County when an altercation occurred. He said that after the altercation, things went back to normal.
He said he went back into the house after being outside, and received what he thought was a slap to the throat from McGowan. The victim was then told he was bleeding and discovered that his throat was cut.
McGowan was taken into custody transported to the Union County Jail.
Rogene Jamaal Moorman, 30, of 106 Pinedale Ave., Union, was charged by the Union Public Safety Department with attempted murder around 7:30 p.m. Feb. 22 for allegedly stabbing another man.
According to the arrest warrant, Moorman cut, stabbed and wounded a man in the upper left area of his chest, causing great bodily injury.
