I’ll be like everyone else and talk about the beautiful snow, Saturday. What a surprise!
We were going to go to Wal Mart when I got home from work Saturday, but by the time my daughter got ready and I opened the door it was about three inches deep. Now all this happened in the half hour that I was home.
One of my friends in Woodruff was showing me the snow on his phone and I heard thunder. Did it thunder here in Lockhart? I sure didn’t hear it. But first he was showing me pellets of snow coming down, but it wasn’t sleet, just tiny balls of hard snow. Maybe we had that too, but my door was closed and I might have missed it.
Well, after cleaning the car off we headed to town, but about River Road I turned around and came back home. Everyone was moving real slow, and Gina said she really didn’t want to take eight hours to get there. I got worried that if it froze while we were in Wal Mart we might have trouble getting home. When I got out of the car and tried to get to my front door, she plowed me with snowballs, and never missed a one. Head to toe she got me. A couple of hours later the roads were clear and traffic was back to normal.
Winter In Michigan
When I was a kid, there was a golf course in the city of Flint, Michigan, with a steep hill; my cousin lived a few blocks from it, so in the winter time we would pull our sleds to it and join a lot of other sledders and have a wonderful, fun-filled, cold time. Then a few hours later, probably exhausted, we would drag our sleds back home.
We would also make two forts out of snow, on the opposite sides of the yard, and then make lots of snowballs and pick teams, then have snowball wars. And of course we made angels in the snow, that was always the first thing we would do.
Of course we had plenty of time to do these things since snow stayed with us for months and months. Then it went from beautiful white to sluggish brown snow as it started melting. Sometimes we would have so much snow that when it melted it might flood the Flint River which was in our downtown area.

On Feb. 10, Wesley Chapel Church celebrated “The Burning of The Mortgage” and all joined afterwards for a luncheon.
At The Movies
Every time I’ve gone to the movies, I have seen the same preview at least 10 times in a row, and I got so tired of it that I joke about it and say “I sure hope I haven’t missed it.” Ha! Ha! I try to go to the lobby to do one thing or another, when I think it’s coming on, but always seem to manage to come back at the end of it, and I say “Ohhh, I almost missed it.”
Halle Berry stars in it and I think it’s called “Call.” She is a 911 operator, and this girl calls while hiding upstairs in a closet, that someone is in the house and wants to kill her. The phone goes dead, so what does Halle do, she calls her back, and so now the killer hears the phone and knows where she is.
What 911 operator would do such a thing? Ours would call the police and send them to her house.
Then she goes after the killer herself. Which one of our 911 operators would do such a thing? Ours stay and try to help with the situation on the phone and let the law handle the rest. Well, her character got on my nerves.
Gina keeps joking with me and tells me she will be sure to take me to see it. Yeah!
I did go and see Die Hard (the latest one). Lots and lots of action, and I enjoyed it. I kind-of screamed once, but it happened so fast that I asked Gina if I screamed. Bruce Willis was in Russia in this one.
The other day I saw “Identity Thief” with the gal that plays Molly in “Mike and Molly.” It was a riot. Even Gina enjoyed it and she’s more of the scary or action type movie goer. This was strictly comedy. She stole Jason Bateman’s identity, and he went after her. It was a lot of physical comedy.
Call Back
Somebody named Lequeisa (or similar to that) called on my answering machine Wednesday wanting me to call her back about the house I have for rent, but when I called the number she gave me it belonged to someone else. So maybe she can call me back with another number. Anyone can reach me on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. On Monday and Wednesday you will get my answering machine, but I always check it during the day and call you back.
Trying To Get Stamps
The post office closed at noon now, so if you need stamps you need to get there early, but not before 9 a.m.
Chuck is on third shift, and wanted to mail something Monday, so he struggled to stay awake to get his stamps and mail his letter. He got off work at 7 a.m. and was at the post office at 9 a.m. and waited and waited for Debbie.
When I walked out of my shop a little after 9 a.m. to go to a meeting he was in front of my shop looking very tired, and wanted to know where Debbie was. It was President’s Day. Wow! He could have been in bed if only he’s known.
Festival
Put April 6 on your calender for our “Down By The River” festival. I told you all about it last week, so I will tell you more in the weeks to come.
Valentine Sale
Oh, did I tell you about Chuck going in Dollar General last Wednesday the 13th and asked the girls that work there if the valentine cards were on sale yet, and they said not until Friday. He told them that I would have to wait, then, to get my valentine so he could save some money. I think they really would like to beat him, they’re always on my side. He doesn’t go in there that he isn’t teasing one of them.
An Unpleasant Future
When a lonely frog consults a fortuneteller, he’s told not to worry.
“You are going to meet a beautiful young girl,” she says, “and she will want to know everything about you.”
“That’s great!” says the excited frog. “When will I meet her?”
“Next semester,” says the psychic, “in biology class.”
Well, hope I didn’t bore you. So now I’ll say goodnight. 1-864-545-6652
