CAMDEN — Union County High School will be represented at the state wrestling tournament in Anderson this weekend by Ethan Pendleton and Christian Petty.

The athletes qualified for the event by turning in top three performances at the Upperstate tournament this past Saturday at Camden High School.

Pendleton pinned all four of his opponents including Broome’s Scout Davidson in the finals to win the upper state championship in the 106-pound class.

“Ethan really got after it and dominated his weight class this weekend,” said Union County Head Coach Mark Moss.

Petty earned a spot in the State tournament with a third-place finish in the 182-pound division. His final match of the day was won by pin.

“Christian wrestled his best tournament yet,” said Moss. “He really came ready to wrestle this past weekend.”

This week the two will prepare for State and Moss plans to have his athletes ready.

“We will be working on conditioning,” he said. “Lots and lots of conditioning.”
