UNION — The Union County Recreation Department is busy with the 2013 basketball season, hosting games on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

In Monday night’s 6-9 rec league action, the Mavs defeated the Heat 26-20 in the 6 p.m. game. Hayden Whitlock paced the winning team with 10 points while Bryant Whitlock and Desmond Herbert netted four apiece. Brian Renwick and Trenton Crocker scored six each to lead the Heat.

In the 10-12 year division, the Warriors went toe to toe with the Bulls, pulling out a 31-24 victory. Jr. Owens led all scorers with 12 points and Trey Lyles added seven for the Warriors. Trey Parks led the Bulls with 11 points and Rhett Cannon added five.

Last Thursday night saw the Knicks take a 15-12 win over the Celtics and the Warriors routed the Lakers, 45-14. La’Darius Jeffries led the Warriors scoring with 13 points. Jabari Meadows led the Lakers with seven.
