Hello everyone, welcome into our little world, er, I mean little town. Local news coming up, lets do our birthday wishes texted in from “Gottrocks The Birthday Fairy.”

Upcoming Local News

Registration for Whitmire Recreation Spring Sports, ages 9-12, Dixie Major and Minor baseball registration forms are at the town hall. Girls softball registration until February 8. The forms are available at town hall and Roche’s Pharmacy will also have the forms at the counter. Be sure to visit the town’s recreation page on Facebook. The town hall phone number is 803-694-2356.

A citizens input meeting will be Wednesday, January 23, 1 p.m. at the community center. The meeting guests will be representatives from The Central Midlands Agency and the discussion will be about the town’s upcoming water and sewer projects.

TERA, the Tyger Enoree River Alliance Organization, has six canoe trips planned for the spring. Contact Jon Durham at riverkeeper@jonduram.net for group and individual information. The group also has a Facebook page.

TERA will be soon re-locating to a downtown building in the near future.

Next month, February 18 at 7 p.m., the Town Of Whitmire will host a Citizens’ Town Hall-style meeting at the community center. Town council members and the mayor will be present. The purpose of the meeting is to hear and share ideas from Whitmire residents. This meeting is open to all Whitmire residents in and outside of the town limits. Recreation parents and county council members and organizations are encouraged to attend.

The Whitmire Pack #200 will host meetings on the second and fourth Thursday at The Community Center. The Whitmire Jaycees meet the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m. in the town hall . New members and volunteers are welcome to attend.

As a last note to the men, the gents, the fellas, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, don’t forget your sweetie this year. Yes, include your pets on the shopping list too.
