Who doesn’t like gospel singing?! Well, come and enjoy the singing of Adam’s Call, Saturday, January 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lockhart Methodist Church. That’s tomorrow! No admission, but there will be a love offering. Come on out, I know you’ll enjoy the fellowship and singing.

“Refuse To Be A Victim”

Also on Saturday, January 12 at 9 a.m. until 12 p.m., at the Lockhart Town Hall, a seminar will be held called “Refuse to be a Victim.” Learn what you can do to better protect yourself, family, friends or employees from becoming victimized. Personal safety is not always convenient. You must consciously integrate the options you choose into everyday life until good habits are formed. Remember, criminals prefer easy targets. The more difficult a target you present, the less likely you are to become a victim. The cost for this seminar is $15, but if there is 10 people to attend the cost will be $10. This is sponsored and instructed by the NRA.

New Roof

Last week I asked for someone to put a roof on my workshop attached to my house. I received one phone call. I decided to go ahead and let him do it, since he was courteous, and knew his business. He didn’t make promises that he wasn’t going to keep. He came out and did the measurements Saturday, and by Tuesday I had a beautiful roof. So if you want any construction done, I suggest you call TFE, owned by Tommy Eaves, at 251-0114.

Wisdom

The only thing you can ever be in life is yourself because that’s the only thing someone else can’t be.

While Gina and I were shopping at the Target Store last weekend, we came across a few good buys by mistake of going the long way to checkout. We found fleece pj sets on sale because they were Christmas themes. They had cost $19.99 and we got them for $4.99. So we bought three sets and gave Chuck one for a New Year’s gift. He likes gifts. Ha ha. I told him he could come over and we would all put them on and watch the Polar Express like they do in elementary school. He just laughed at us. Well I thought it was funny. Oh, I didn’t tell you they were Bevis and Buthead pjs.

Election

As of right now, the only people running for council and mayor in Lockhart in March are Barry Canupp and Beverly Shrader for council and Ailene Ashe for Mayor. The cut off date for a write-in is January 10. They used to let you do write-ins at the polls, but I think it got too costly, to see how many votes Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck had. One year it was ridiculous. This is a better way, and the write-in needs to get signatures like the other candidates did.

Weather

Today in the shop, I heard that the temperature for this weekend is to be in the 70s. Why couldn’t it had been when I was on my long break? I wanted to clean windows and clean out my shed which two possums have demolished by chasing each other. Everything that was up on shelves is now on the floor.

Well anyway I felt it was too cold, since this is the flu season. Did that sound like a good reason. I thought so.

Back At Work

Well anyway it really feels good to be back to work. I got to see Patti, Lisa, and Deanna today. Dolly came by, and Don and Judy, even feeling as bad as they were, came in for a cut and fixing. Betty Steen came in and has had shoulder surgery, the arm is a little sore, but she is doing therapy at Austin’s. I believe Laura Dabbs is still doing therapy on her arm also, from her shoulder surgery. Roy Parkins is in rehab at Oakmont for his broken hip.

Sympathy

My sympathy goes out to Maury O’Dell”s family and Bill McCloud’s family. We lost both these nice gentlemen last week, after long illnesses.

Medicinal Coffee

Dodge diabetes by making coffee. A new Japanese study found that perking up with just one cup daily can send your risk of diabetes plunging. In a lab study, mice given the beverage avoided the insulin sensitivity associated with Type 2 diabetes and scientist’s credit caffeine for causing the positive effect. Prefer decaf? You can still get some protection compounds in all coffee drinks that help keep blood sugar balanced. So if you want to get rid of rats don’t invite them in for a cup of coffee.

At The Movies

We had tickets for The Guardian, at Spartan 16 (Free). It was a cute movie about the Boogie Man trying to get rid of Jack Frost, Santa, The Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, and the Sandman, because they keep all the little children safe. He wanted to make all the children not believe in them, so he would rule the land.

So guess what I have to see this week?! Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 3-D. Now for some of you that know me, you know I’ll simply embarrass Gina. I tend to scream and jump a lot in these movies. I hope I’m tired, so maybe I can go to sleep.

I used to buy popcorn and study each kernel that I put in my mouth, just to keep from watching these movies, but at the price of popcorn now it is more frightening than the movie. About, $5.95 for a small bag of popcorn. Huh, not me, I’ll just scream and jump instead.

At one 3-D we went to see I pushed her out of the way when something ugly came at us, maybe I should sit in another row.

More Wisdom

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.

A Hello

Hello troops in Kosovo!

Well, as usual it’s late, so if I survive the movie I’ll be back next week. Goodnight, 545-6652.
