It seems as if it was just yesterday when I wrote my first article in The Grapevine. In all actuality it has been years now. It amazes me how time flies.
I’m sure in the past few years you have noticed some changes within your life. It may be that you have lost a loved one or had a new child or grandchild. Maybe you have gotten married or divorced. Maybe you’ve changed jobs, moved into a different house, or switched churches. It could be you have picked up a bad habit or resolved to quit one. No matter what it is, it involves change. And if you are anything like me, you don’t like change.
Regardless of how we feel, change is apart of life. I’m glad I have a Heavenly Father who never changes. The Bible says, “I am the Lord and changeth not.” My challenge to you is when the winds of adversity come into your life and you find yourself in the midst of change, whether you want it or not, handle it with care, and first and foremost seek God’s wisdom through prayer and His word.
I heard recently that the same wind may blow me in one direction while it may blow you in another. I truly believe this. It is all how we handle life’s changes. Some will draw from God in adversity. The same set of circumstances can affect people very differently. That is why God’s word is such a necessity within our lives. It never changes, it is always right, and it is our road map to glory. If we seek God’s word first and obey what it says, we will never go wrong. It may not be the most popular decision but when you answer for your actions you can hold your head up knowing you’ve pleased God.
This year could be the best year you’ve ever had serving the Lord Jesus. Determine in your heart that you’ll put the Lord first priority in every aspect of your life regardless if you are on the mountain top or down in the valley. Put the Lord first when the seas of life are calm and when they are rough. When the winds of adversity, trouble, and trials turns our lives upside down we know God’s word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. And we can put our trust in an unchanging God who loves us.
