CLEMSON — The Clemson Tigers dominated the floor of Littlejohn Coliseum on Sunday, routing S.C. State 77-41.
The Tigers were led by Demarcus Harrison who scored a career-high 15 points off 6-of-11 field goals and also added a career-best six assists.
Clemson missed their first seven attempts from long distance Sunday and fell behind 16-15 with 8:55 left in the second quarter before closing the half on a 21-2 run to seize control.
The run was highlighted by a pair of dunks courtesy of K.J. McDaniels. His reverse finish off an Adonis Filer pass made it a 22-16 ballgame and the second slam gave the Tigers their 36-18 halftime lead.
Clemson led by as many as 39 points in the second half. Milton Jennings came alive from three point land and his second trifecta from the right corner gave Clemson a 49-22 lead. Senior counterpart Devin Booker had a dunk inside moments later to give the Tigers another 27-point advantage. Harrison buried his second three of the game before finding Jennings in transition for a dunk on the next possession.
The 49-29 lead ballooned behind a pair of baskets from freshman Josh Smith and Clemson’s largest lead (39 points) came after a jumper by Bernard Sullivan in the final two minutes.
The Tigers had 22 assists on 30 baskets, the most assists in 76 games under Head Coach Brad Brownell and all 11 players that saw time in Sunday’s game scored.
Jennings had 15 points and Booker contributed 11 points with seven rebounds.
The Tigers will break for several days before returning to practice on Dec. 28 and Clemson’s next game will be at home on Tuesday, Jan. 1 at 4 p.m. against The Citadel.
