The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrests:

— Devontea Marquis Fonteneau, 19, of 309 S. Church St., Union, was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and pointing and presenting a firearm. According to arrest warrants, Fonteneau and several other people assaulted a man on Nov. 9 with a baseball bat, striking him in the head and body causing him to seek medical attention. Warrants say Fonteneau also pointed a handgun at three people while they traveled down South Pinckney Street in Union.

— John Anthony Tucker, 32, of 440 Joe Walker Road, Union was charged with possession of cocaine.

— Jimmy DeCarlos Henderson, 32, of 108 Columbus St., Union, was charged with disorderly conduct. According to the incident report, officers responded to Henderson’s residence and he appeared to be “very angry, very loud, boisterous and threatening.” After refusing to comply with an officer’s verbal prompts, Henderson was placed under arrest.

The Union Public Safety Department reported the following incidents:

— A resident of Bowling Avenue in Union reported on Dec. 20 that a window in back of her house, glass in a storm door and a pane in a wooden door had all been shattered and a lock had been pried off the wooden door. Nothing was reported missing.

— A resident of Simmons Street in Union reported on Dec. 20 that her home was broken into. The incident report states that when the victim returned home from work, she noticed a broken window and lights on which she had turned off before she left. She noticed that presents under her tree had been opened and items taken included a variety of clothing and electronics valued at $984. The case was turned over to investigations.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:

— Avery Lamar Sims, 36, of 479 Old Union Road, Union was charged with disorderly conduct. According to the incident report, Sims appeared intoxicated in the Hot Spot store in Lockhart, and when several customers refused to give him a ride, he yelled and cursed at them. When an officer arrived, Sims said a man inside the store was going to give him a ride, but everyone inside the store informed the officer that they refused. Sims was placed under arrest and transported to Union County Jail.

— Jatania Lenore Cabaniss, 32, of 112 Canal Road, Lockhart; Selissa Kay Melton, 34, of 119 Skyview Drive, Lockhart; and Cherri Ann Bodine, 51, of 116 South 6th St., Lockhart were each charged with breach of peace. According to the incident report, the three women were involved in an argument at Lockhart Post Office. The report also states that after further investigation, it was discovered that an 8-year-old was present during the taking of prescription drugs and fighting. DSS was contacted and the child was turned over to a grandparent.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incident:

— A resident of Kelly Road in Union reported on Dec. 20 that parts for heavy machinery were taken from a lot on Happy Valley Road in Union. The incident report states that the parts were too large and heavy to be moved by hand and would have been taken by a loader or large piece of equipment. Parts included a Mack Truck fuel tank, two rear ends from an 18-wheeler, a motor and other miscellaneous items. The victim was unable to provide a monetary value at the time of the report, and the case was turned over to investigations.
