The Union Public Safety Department is investigating the following incidents:

Armed robbery

On Nov. 17, officers were dispatched to 613 S. Pinckney St. in Union in reference to an armed robbery with shots fired.

Once on scene, city officers set a perimeter around the store and looked for the suspect. 911 dispatch advised the subject ran toward Dixie Curb Market and was wearing dark clothing with a white mask. Dispatch informed officers that the store clerk was not hit by the shots.

Once the Union County K-9 unit started the search, an officer spoke with the store clerk who stated that a male, approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall, wearing a black hoodie with a white T-shirt around his face entered the store. The clerk stated the male ran up to the counter with a handgun pointed at him and demanded money. The clerk opened the register and began handing over money, but the suspect then told the clerk to get on the ground, began firing the weapon and took money from the register himself.

The K-9 unit tracked from the scene to a backyard on South Mountain Street. The investigation is continuing.

Vandalism

On Nov. 19, an officer spoke with on Meansville Road resident who stated that after returning from work, she noticed someone had vandalized her car. The officer noticed markings made with a sharp object at various places on the vehicle. Obscenities were engraved on the car.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the following incident:

Burglary/breaking and entering

On Nov. 17, a deputy was dispatched to 2nd St. in Lockhart after a burglary/breaking and entering was reported.

The victim said the crime occurred between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Nov. 16, when an unknown person or persons broke into a camper by forcing their way in through the camper’s sliding glass door. The victim said that a .45-caliber pistol was taken from an old microwave.

The pistol was entered into NCIC (National Crime Information Center).

The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrests:

Jamie Tyrone Brannon, 35, of 218 Deepwater Road in Union, was charged Tuesday with breach of trust.

Robert Alonzo Whethers, 45, of 136 N. Church St. in Union, was charged Tuesday with trespassing and drug equipment violations.
