Yellow Jackets tame Lions for Upper State title

CENTRAL — Union County entered the Class 3A playoffs a month ago as a dark horse with a 5-5 overall record but Friday during the Upper State Championship game none of that mattered.

The Jackets beat the odds and Daniel on the road, 20-14, to earn a trip to the State Championship at Williams Brice Stadium in Columbia next Saturday.

Union County will square off against Hartville, the Lower State Champion, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the State Championship at Williams Brice Stadium in Columbia.
