Hello everyone. Lets get this post election day column underway with local news. Gottrocks The Birthday Fairy did his round of parties, he is drooping with fatigue.

Anniversary

We say Happy Anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Billy Hollingsworth, who recently celebrated their 39th anniversary.

Upcoming Community Events

Are we ready for Christmas? The Whitmire Jaycees are taking applications to adopt a family for their Christmas Cheer fund this week. Members will be at the Whitmire Library, Thursday, Nov. 14 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. The Jaycees can be contacted via their Facebook Group page or call Sue Hollingsworth at 803-694-3797 or Amy Silvers at 803-944-1959. The members meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at town hall in the upstairs courtroom. New members and volunteers are welcome.

The Annual Whitmire Tree Lighting Ceremony will be Friday, Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the west end of Main Street. The WCS Concert Band will perform Christmas music and several community and school members will be here to help with hosting duties. The Jaycees will serve hot chocolate and coffee. This is a free event for the community.

Float orders are now being taken for the Whitmire Christmas parade. The parade is December 8 at noon. The line up is at 11 a.m. There is no entry fee for the parade. Sue and Amy are the contact persons for the Jaycees. Number listed in the above paragraph. Ol’ St. Nick will fly into town to hear Christmas wishes from the little ones and youth. Santa usually stops by the Whitmire Volunteer Fire & Rescue buildings after he makes his appearance in the parade. The volunteer members serve refreshments to parents and kids.

Sims Chapel Baptist Church is accepting donations of canned goods, food items for baskets to be distributed to needy families in Whitmire. Contact Their Facebook page or see a member for details.

In closing, we say congratulations to all of the winners and to local and county candidates who invested their time and effort in the recent election.
