BUFFALO — Buffalo United Methodist Church carried on a decades-long tradition this week by hosting its annual Bean Supper.
The event — for which admission was free — included a meal featuring a variety of beans such as pintos, butter beans and field peas, as well as trimmings including cornbread, marinated slaw, fatback and onions. Donations were accepted at the door, and all money raised will go toward the purchase of a new air conditioner for the church.
The church fellowship hall was filled with church members and guests, most of whom enjoyed joking with the Rev. Kevin Dalton. Dalton spent time with everyone in attendance.
The evening also included musical entertainment provided by Buffalo resident Freddie Vanderford, who was accompanied by longtime musician David Ezell of Spartanburg.
The evening closed with a prayer for those on the church prayer list for whom special concerns had been expressed.
