After a Saturday of thrilling finishes but no upsets, things remain virtually the same in the BCS. Alabama stole a win from LSU to retain the top spot for the 10th straight week and Kansas State’s victory over Oklahoma State was good enough to keep the Wildcats in the number two slot. Oregon hurdled Notre Dame in the standings after beating Southern California and the Irish fell into fourth following a triple overtime win over Pittsburgh.

Clemson remains at No. 13 in the standings this week after thumping Duke.

Although the Tigers would need Florida State to lose to either Maryland or Virginia Tech in order to play for the ACC championship, they could still receive a BCS bowl game, possibly the Sugar Bowl. A win over rival South Carolina at the end of the month would go a long way to help make the case.

Meanwhile, the Gamecocks fell from seventh to eighth during a bye week but remain in the running for an at-large BCS bowl birth. Assuming that Alabama wins out and plays for the National Championship, South Carolina is likely positioned for either the Outback Bowl or the Chick-Fil-A bowl, depending on how the rest of the season shakes out.
