UNION — While some races in Tuesday’s general election will be on all ballots in Union County, others will only be on some ballots and voters should bring identification with them to make sure they get the right ballot when they go to the polls.
The ballots in all precincts in Union County will include the races for president of the United States, the Fourth Congressional District, Sixteenth Circuit Solicitor, S.C. House District 42, Union County Sheriff, Union County Clerk of Court, Soil and Water District Commission, a proposed amendment to the S.C. Constitution, and a referendum on changing the county’s form of government.
There are number of races, however, that will be on the ballot but not in all precincts or on all ballots within the county’s precincts. This is because the districts for these offices encompass only certain precincts and parts of others in Union County. Those races include:
• S.C. Senate Districts 13, 14 and 18
• Union County Council Districts 2, 3, 5 and 6
• Union County School Board Districts 1, 2, 6 and 7
• The office of City of Union Mayor and Union City Council Districts 3, 4 and 6
• The office of Mayor of the Town of Carlisle and two seats on the Carlisle Town Council
• Two seats on the Jonesville Fire District Board of Trustees, three on the Monarch Fire District Board of Trustees, and three on the Santuc Fire District Board of Trustees
• Three seats on the Brown’s Creek Watershed
In many precincts in the county, depending on where they live, some voters will receive ballots with some of these races while others will receive ballots with other races. To avoid any confusion about which ballot they should receive, voters should bring either their driver’s license or voter registration card with them to the polls.
