The first time I met Buddy Allen was shortly after I moved to South Carolina. He worked for the power company, but when Mr. Stalnaker retired from the phone company (which belonged to the power company at that time), they put Buddy on the job. He told me he didn’t know the first thing about it but he quickly learned. And from then on he was our repairman.

You always knew he was around, he’d be up in a bucket at the top of the pole singing. He was always a happy man, and you just knew God had touched him with song. You know what an impact this man made on the world by the number of people that showed up at the church on Tuesday and Wednesday last week. My sympathy to his family and I know he will be missed by everybody.

You can find out these answers by coming to a seminar at the Lockhart Town Hall from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17. The cost is $15 unless we get 15 people and then it will be just $10. A certified instructor will be conducting this class. Learn: Automobile Security, Workplace Safety, Technological Security, Travel Security, Senior Citizens and person with physical disabilities, learn how to make your home secure, just to name a few things that will take place.

Prevent Meter Damage

You are responsible for keeping your water meter safe. Meter damage is customers responsibility, so watch when you mow the grass or cars running over them. And keep the area around the meter clean so it’s easier for the readers to find it.

We have individuals coming to us and asking if they can clean and repair certain areas in Lockhart on their own, thank you. These are people that want to take pride in where they are living ( in Lockhart ) and we at Town Hall want to thank each one of you.

Free Paperback Books

I don’t think I ever mentioned that I have a huge supply of paperback books at my salon, they are there for anyone that loves to read. And they are free.

I’m getting ready to change out books, since most of my regular readers have read most of what I have. So what doesn’t go in the next two weeks, will be donated to Oakmont and Ellen Sagar (which is where I take them when everyone has finished with them anyway).

But I’ve been given a whole new set of books and can’t wait to replace the old ones, so if you want to see what I have come on in, maybe you’ve been looking for the one that goes to a series you have.

New Look

I went by Ken Schular’s last week and saw that they were now advertising the “Peek A Boo.” They must have gone to the same class I went to, because that’s one of the new looks we learned. I did one on Tammy the other day and it looked real cute. It’s kind of a quick way to get the new fad. Call if you might be interested in getting it, 545-6652.

Christmas Parade

I haven’t heard from any of our vendors for the Christmas Parade, but I’m sure they will show up, since they’ve been wonderful all these years in coming.

Our parade is at 3 p.m. Dec. 2, that’s the first Sunday of the month.

Before I started being in the parade, I would sell chips, candy, and drinks out of my beauty shop, and I stayed real busy at my end of town. It might be a place to think about instead of everyone in the center of town.

The float contest will start at 1:30 p.m. at Lockhart School and the plaques will be for Original, Theme and Attractive. Judges are guests from out of town.

Draining The Race

I heard that the power company is getting ready to drain the race. So let’s see what kind of junk you’ve thrown in it, instead of recycling. You don’t think about it jamming up into the gates and maybe, who knows, causing them not to open and causing a major flood. I don’t know if that could happen but, MAYBE.

Birthdays

Shirley Cromer had a birthday Oct.22, Jill Scarborough on the 23rd, and Dickie Shugart on the 26th.

Reunion

Don’t forget that tomorrow you will be having a big class reunion at the Family Life Center for all the people that ever attended Lockhart School.

Dickie asks that you bring a 2 liter drink and some finger food. Show up at 2 p.m. and stay until 9 p.m. That’s Oct 27.

New Truck

Well, Chuck was off work this last weekend and we went out to eat.

You’re saying no big deal, when it was the first time in three years that he drove his vehicle. He bought himself a new truck and I wouldn’t let him take me for a ride, because I kept telling him when we went to eat I would ride in it then. It rode really nice. I’ve driven my car since buying it because it had air and heat.

Finally he has a wonderful truck with heat and air. Need I say more. Now I still can’t say too much for his speed and talking.

Happiness

Happy is something you were meant to be.

Back Home

Ethan Turner will be home for a visit from the Air Force in Texas this next week. Then he’ll be going to Ohio. Hope he has some warm clothes, because it should be cold in the North. His family is so happy to be able to spend time with him.

Medical News

Donnie Adams is bored but doing well after his surgery.

Laura Dabbs is going to be having her shoulder surgery in the next couple of weeks.

Pray for Edna Gregory who’s in the hospital at Mary Black.

Elaine Youngblood is in rehab and hopes to be home soon.
