UNION — Union County’s final Region III-AAA bout versus Chester on Friday night will come down to one thing — who wants it more?
With a win, Union County would finish second in the region and earn a first round home game in the playoffs. The Jackets would still compete in post-season with a loss but the road to a State Championship would be much more difficult as a No. 3 seed.
Chester’s lone loss was delivered by Woodruff three weeks ago. The Cyclones are coming off a 32-12 win over Clinton and are looking to throw a wrench in Union County’s plans to open post-season on home turf.
The Jackets are coming off their best defensive outing of the season having held Chapman to just six points on Friday night. They’ll need to be just as efficient against a dangerous Chester squad that is comfortable working from the ground and the air.
Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the Union County Stadium.
