Hello everyone, brrr, October weather is finally here. Makes ballgames and Halloween more exciting.
Exciting news coming up, first birthdays from “Gottrocks The Birthday Fairy.” Gottrocks has added the final touches on his Halloween costume, anticipation of Whitmire’s Halloween Celebration. More on that, first here are our birthdays and wishes.

The Whitmire Jaycees encourage members of the community to come to and participate in the upcoming Stump Meeting, Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at The Whitmire Community Center.
This is your chance to see and hear the candidates that you will be voting for. This is a free event, held as a community project for public education and information. Invite your friends andneighbors.
The 48 candidates from Newberry, Union and Laurens have been invited to speak, discuss their plans, and answer questions.
The Whitmire Volunteer Fire Department is offering an “Explorer Program” for teens ages 14-17.

The members of Sims Chapel Baptist Church are accepting donations of and for food baskets, canned good, non-perishables. The church members along with Rev. Micheal Williams encourages Whitmire citizens and businesses to donate whatever items possible, so that the needy families in Whitmire will have holiday food baskets. People In The News
Congratulations to Talon Trotter, Jared Wicker, and Sam Miller, on their recent award of Player Of The Month from Whitmire Community School. All three young men are Varsity Wolverines.
Congratulations to the WCS Royal Regiment Marching Band which had another good weekend in competitions.
The band traveled to Graniteville, S.C. to compete in the Midland Valley High School competition.
Drum Major Erin Jeter Picked 2nd place award for “Drum Major” and second place went to the Drumline. The band placed fifth in all bands’ overall performance.
Meanwhile, the Varsity girl’s volleyball and tennis teams had recent victories.
The big October event is Halloween Night — Oct. 27, official “Trick Or Treat” Night and The Booster Club’s Annual Halloween Carnival at The City Gym, The Trunk Or Treat on Main Street. Both places are well lit and safe and within walking distance of each other. Fun for adults, toddlers, youth and teens.
In closing, I say thank you to those Whitmirians for decorating your homes in the Spirit of Halloween.
