Does it seem like this year has just flown by? It almost seems as if we just celebrated the birth of Jesus and rang in the year 2012.

Now spring and summer have gone and the coolness of fall is in the air. It is that time where we open our doors to pass out candy to kids and then just a few short weeks later cook a variety of dishes and overindulge ourselves in our feast. As soon as midnight strikes on Black Friday we kicking off the Christmas season. Within the next couple of months when we will all be busy with the family gatherings, traveling, shopping, and everything else the hectic holidays bring, it will be possible to overlook the most important person in our lives and that is our wonderful Lord and Savior. As the old adage goes, “Out of sight, out of mind.”

Well unfortunately this happens to the Lord quite often during the holidays. What a missed opportunity to see God’s wonder and grace during these times. For example, I personally love Thanksgiving. It is a personal time for me to reflect on my life and God’s grace that has guided me safely thus far. It is a time that I will thank God for all His wonderful blessings and the way He has worked in my life during the good times, hard times, dark times, and all times. Simply, it is a time of gratitude for all things. Many will miss these opportunities because it’s overshadowed by the activities and busyness in their lives.

In Acts 26 we find the story recorded in the eternal word of God about a man who missed the greatest opportunity of all. Herod Agrippa was a man who had power and prestige. He also had a prisoner named Paul. Paul’s appeal to Agrippa was the gospel message. Paul tried to encourage him to become a Christian but Agrippa found this quite humorous. Agrippa’s vision was like that of so many others. Polluted with the busyness of life, Herod Agrippa chose not to respond to the gospel’s invitation of saving grace because other things were more important at the time. He did not see the value or necessity of giving his life to Christ. If Agrippa could speak today he would tell everyone to not miss that opportunity that he allowed to pass by.

Don’t allow your days to crowd out Jesus. Stop and take a look around. Who do you think created the sun, moon, stars, and blue skies? It is the same God that created man. It is the same God that loves you! Don’t miss the opportunity to accept Jesus today, serve him tomorrow, and live with him forever. Friend there is no guarantee of tomorrow’s opportunities so I implore you to respond today.
