The Lockhart Christmas Parade Committee will hold a meeting on Monday, Oct. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lockhart Cafe. Please come and give your suggestions to Barry.
We’re still thinking who would be a good Parade Marshall, who do you think? Someone who goes the extra mile in helping the community.
Don’t forget to enter a float for a winning plaque. For Original, Attractive and Theme. Let’s have a fun time with this. Judging will be out of town guests, and will be at Lockhart School at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 2.
Phone numbers are Barry — 429-7051, Bernice — 5452346, Jeannie — 251-0555, or me at 545-6652.
Party Time
It’s party time at the new beauty salon.
Heather and Teresa Brigmon of Locked Heart Hair and Tanning Salon is having a customer appreciation party on Saturday, Oct. 20, at noon. There will be free hot dogs, chips, popcorn, and drinks along with hair and tanning coupons. They will be featuring the ” Wrap” (fat burner) and “Thirty One” Parties. Sounds like a fun day.
They are at 4719 Jonesville Lockhart Highway and their phone number is 545-6518.
An Evening With Chuck
Guess who I saw and had dinner with Saturday? Chuck! I hadn’t really seen him in a couple of weeks.
While we were at Ryan’s we ran into Cora, who asked who was driving home. When I said I was, she said well, you’ll make it in 45 minutes. Aha! At least someone believes me when I say how slow Chuck drives, and we would be going part way home on S.C. 29, which would be his speed.
The highlight of the whole evening was going to the Academy — yeah! We looked at guns, clothes for hunting and tree climbers and blinds, etc. Ladies, do we drag these men to Belks or Victoria Secrets, etc.? AND he didn’t buy a thing! I’m looking forward to the next trip.
New Lockhart Residents
We also ran into Alice and Mike Sanders at Ryan’s, they are moving into Lockhart after they get their new house ready. That will be so great to have them in our community, let’s all make them feel welcome. If Alice is reading this, I want her to know that I will give her a free hair cut at my Beauty Salon when she moves in, this is a welcoming gift from me.
Birthdays
I want to give a belated birthday to Vernon Sprouse on the 5th of October.
Oh, and an apology to Christopher Porter, his birthday is Oct. 7, not the 8th.
Janice Allen had one on the 6th, Gayle Turner on the 9th, Catherine Childers on the 11th and Patti Turner, Mary Fowler on the 12th. Lynn Williams on the 16th.
Anniversaries
Anniversary wishes to Lynn and Jay Williams on the 6th of October, Buddy and Butchie Allen on the 7th, Ronnie and Caroline Thomason on the 11th. Toby and Tammy Childers will celebrate 13 years on the 16th of October.
Flea Market Success
Ailene said they had a real good turnout for the flea market that the First Baptist Church had last Saturday. They were earning money to finish a bedroom at the new Mission at the old Hope Hospital.
There are still a few bedrooms left if anyone or groups or churches want to decorate one. These will house Mission groups that come to work in surrounding areas. Also to put families up that have been burned out of their homes, etc. The Mission will have a lot of things going on.
The Weather
How are the Guards doing in Kosovo? How’s the weather?
Well it was in the 50s today. I was told it was going to be in the 80s today, but that must have been in Texas. We went from hot to cold. What happened to fall?
Deer Problems
Oh, this is a good one that I read in the Readers Digest.
This is from a town in Indiana. A lot of deer get hit by cars west of Crown Point on U.S. 231.
There are too many cars to have the deer crossing here. The deer crossing sign needs to be moved to a road with less traffic. How about that?
Winning The Race
What about the race Sunday?
Chuck came by and asked about the race so Gina turned it on while he was here. Well since his guy was so far back in the pack, Gina told him that the only way he would win was if there was a wreck.
Well Chuck left, and five minutes later about 20 cars wrecked on the race track, and you guessed it, Chuck’s man won. He was so far back that the collision didn’t even phase him and he drove around the whole mess and voila!
I called Chuck when he got home and told him the news. He had to see it on the nightly news, since he doesn’t get ESPN.
Happy Customers
How many went to the Carolina game this weekend. A lot of my customers went and came home very happy. What little I caught on TV in Dick’s it looked like Carolina was running away with the game.
Interesting Point
Favorite reason to loathe technology: I don’t shop online because I don’t own a computer.
My belief is they haven’t completed inventing computers yet. Why? Because they don’t work. If they worked, not every business in the world would have a department to fix them. They don’t have a department to fix pencils.
Remember In Prayer
Let’s pray for Buddy and Butchie Allen. As of right now he’s still in the hospital in Spartanburg, but let’s pray he comes home real soon, and feeling better.
Pray for Rodney Lawson’s family that they can stay strong during this tragic time.
Well I’m going to close and please give me a call at 545-6652. Good night.
