UNION — The Sims Middle School girls volleyball team fell to Carver Middle on Monday, 2-3.
The Tigers (0-4) claimed a 25-21 opening match victory before dropping a 25-20 loss in game two.
Sims rallied for a 25-9 win in the third match of the evening only to let the final two games slip away.
“We played really well in the first game,” said Sims Coach Tracy Duncan. “Julia Phillips and Emily Phillips served well in that match. In the second one, there was just a lack of communication. We let too many balls drop in the tie-breaker and lost our focus. We should have and could have easily beaten this team.”
Duncan noted that Santana Woodard and Amanda Hendrix served well for Sims and that the team is showing signs of improvement.
“We let a lot of tips get by us and did not make the kills we needed to make on free balls, but we’re also doing positive things that I hadn’t been seeing,” said Duncan. “We hope to get a match win before our season ends.”
