Two face crack charges

Two men were arrested Tuesday after one tossed drugs to another as officers pursued them.

Andre Tanzil Jeter, 31, of 409 South Church St., was charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack within one-half mile of a school, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest and unlawful carrying of a pistol.

Geromey Jeter, 21, of 210 Goings Lane, was charged with possession with intent to distribute crack, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine within one-half mile of a school and resisting arrest.

A report said narcotics officers received information that Andre Jeter was on South Church Street with a large quantity of crack cocaine on his person. They found him and Geromey Jeter walking and attempted to talk with Andre Jeter by pulling alongside him and Geromey Jeter with the blue lights activated on their patrol car. As the officer got out of the vehicle, a foot pursuit began with Andre Jeer. One of the officers fell and injured his left shoulder.

While fleeing from the officers, Andre Jeter gave Geromey Jeter a white pill bottle. Geromey Jeter then ran in one direction and Andre Jeter the other.

Officers saw Andre throw a pistol on top of an old barn during the pursuit.

Officers finally caught Andre but had to wrestle him to the ground. Officers also found an ice pick in his coat pocket.

Two phones, the ice pick and $79 were seized from Andre Jeer.

Another officer arrested Geromey Jeter on East Henrietta Street and found the pill bottle, which contained a large quantity of crack. A cell phone and $294 was seized from Geromey Jeter.

Andre Jeter is being held in the jail on $75,000 bond. Gerome Jeter’s bond is $30,000.

Man arrested

A Chester man got stuck in a yard in Lockhart Wednesday after he allegedly tried to steal a utility trailer.

Zeddie Dewey Mobley Jr., 41, of 2400 Pressley Road, was charged by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with larceny. He was charged by the Highway Patrol with driving under the influence.

A report said the victim on 129 Skyview Drive, Lockhart, heard a vehicle spinning its wheels in his yard. Then he heard a loud bang behind his home.

He went outside and saw a white 1995 GMC van spinning its wheels. He asked the man driving the van, Mobley, what he was doing. Mobley said he was turning around and got stuck. The victim then noticed his utility trailer was gone. He asked Mobley about it and Mobley said he thought he hit it trying to get out.

Neighbors arrived and said they saw the trailer roll off a large drop off near the house they said Mobley had the trailer hooked up to his van and was trying to take it but he got the van stuck in the wet grass. They saw him unhook the trailer and try to leave.

The victim had called the Highway Patrol when he thought Mobley hit the vehicle. When he heard it was trying to take it, deputies were called.

The victim said the trailer had a lock on it but the lock was gone.

Damage to the trailer was estimated at $300.
