Miss Union Jessica Beam and Miss Union Teen Jordan Suber are each looking for at least 10 runners who will participate in a 5K “Fit to be Crowned” race to benefit three causes.

The run, sponsored by the Miss South Carolina Organization, benefits the Children’s Miracle Network, the Miss South Carolina Organization and the Miss America Organization. It will be held Saturday, March 14, at USC-Upstate. It costs $25 to participate for those who register before March 13. Registration on March 13 costs $28. Registration on race day costs $30 and runners will receive a T-shirt. Registration on race day will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

The race begins on East Campus Boulevard at USC-Upstate, tours the campus and concludes in the parking lot at the Hodge Center

Several notable queens will be present for the race, including Miss America, Katie Stam; Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, Taylor Fitch; Miss South Carolina, Anna Perry and Miss South Carolina Teen, Courtney Cisson.

Individual awards will be given to the top three male and female runners in the following age groups- 14 and under, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 64 and 65 and over. There also will be an overall male and female runner recognized as well as a “Master’s Award,” given to top age 40 and over male and female.
