Working together to recycle
Monarch Elementary School is continuing its "Go Green, Live Clean" tradition by recycling paper, plastic, aluminum, and cardboard with the assistance of the Union County Recycling Center. Principal Anita Maness does her part by helping student Bryson Dowis with class recycling. Over 35 "Go Green, Live Clean" members collect recycling from 4K-5th grade classrooms and offices each Tuesday and Friday before school.

THE THOMAS JEFFERSON VINSON 25th ANNUAL FAMILY REUNION will be held at 1 p.m. at Brown’s Creek Baptist Church. Please bring a well-filled basket. Drinks, plates and cup will be furnished.

PRINCE HALL MASONS, ORDER OF THE EASTERN STARTS, MARY B. THOMAS YOUTH CIRCLE 7 KNIGHT OF PYTHAGORAS YOUNG BOYS will sit-in at 10 a.m. during the morning service at Foster Chapel Baptist Church in Jonesville.

A FATHER-CHILD TENNIS TOURNAMENT will be held at 10 a.m. at the Union County High School Tennis Courts. The tournament is open to chidren ages 6-18. The fee is $20. There will be refreshments and prizes. To sign up call Tournament Director Brad Tate at 466-7100.

THE UNION LIONS CLUB will host a Candy Days Donation Drive. Lions will be giving away candy for donations at the Union County Stadium from 5:30 p.m. until game time, prior to the Union County High School Yellow Jackets football game against Broome. Funds raised during the annual donation drive directly support state and local programs that assist the underprivileged with eyeglasses and hearing aids. These donations also fund a Mobile Health Screening Unit, eye surgeries, and camps for blind youth. For more information, please call 426-8871.

THE FAMILY OF JOSEPH WYLIE JOLLY AND MARY SEPHRONIA CHANDLER JOLLY will hold a family reunion at 1 p.m. in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Social Hall. Please bring a well-filled basket.

THE NEW EMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH has opened a free clothes closet in the back of the Municipal Building in Jonesville. Hours of operation will be Tuesday and Friday 9:30 a.m.-noon.

UNION COUNTY ACTION NETWORK ORGANIZATION (WATCHDOG GROUP) meets weekly on Tuesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at 103 Main St., Union. The public is invited.
