COLUMBIA — Union’s Little Legends golf team competed in the state tournament on Sunday in Columbia and returned with third place honors.

“All the guys did well and had some great shots,” said Coach Jamie Jeter. “Trenton Crocker had some great tee shots to put us in position to make some pars and birdies but every one of the kids did an outstanding job.”

After qualifying in June during the Little Legends Clinic that was held at River Chase Golf Course, Union was entered into Sunday’s state tournament where two 6-year-olds, an 8-year-old, a 9-year-old and an 11-year-old finished third to Spartanburg and Charleston teams that were made up of 12-year-old golfers.

“There is a lot of young talent in Union,” said Jeter. “If they stick with it, the next 10 to 12 years will see a lot of good golfers come out of Union.”
