Hello everyone, lets mention this nice, welcome fall weather.
For those of us over 50, its all right to discuss the weather. We’re going to hear it from our elders anyway.
“Gottrocks The Birthday Fairy” can tell tell us some weather predicaments he has been through as he flies and texts wishes to me each week.
We send our Happy Birthday Wishes to Tracy Stone, Pat Sutton, Lyn Greenway, James Clark, Robert Hunicutt, and to our former residents and Union County friends Billy Lindler, John Walker, Crystal B. Nevesta, Susan R. Ballinger, Kevin Dunaway and David Greene.
Feel Good Wishes
We send our best feel good wishes to Annette Bullard.
Sympathy
On a sad note, we send our sympathy and best wishes to the families of Mrs. Lois C. Vanlue. Known as “Miss Lois” to the members of the community, she is survived by her husband Robert, two daughters, Nancy (Gail ) and Wanda, and grandchildren.
Upcoming Church And Community Events
Halloween, our next biggest and one of the most fun holidays we enjoy in the fall will be celebrated on Oct. 27 in Whitmire.
Trick Or Treat Night will be early Saturday evening, followed by a slow ride or nice walk down Main Street for “Trunk or Treat.” By that time, your kids’ sugar level is crackling, best to retreat to the scary but safe world of the highly decorated City Gym to expend a a sugar sizzle.
The Annual Booster Club Halloween Carnival offers fun, food and music for the kids and mom and dad. The fundraiser attracts a large crowd every year since its debut around 1975. Year after year, with friendly Booster Club members, WCS students, faculty and staff help make the festival appealing to all ages with costume contests for toddlers, youth, and adults. The ever popular “Dunk The Coach” is still the biggest draw, while toss the ring and bean bag games, and go fishing still sell tickets. Plenty of refreshments with homemade cakes, hotdogs, popcorn, candy apples, and soft drinks will be available.
Music and dancing, talking and laughing, inflatable rides and games on the tennis courts. Its a fun time with a small door price. All proceeds benefit the Athletic Booster Club.
For more information on becoming a volunteer, contact Nina Wagner on her Facebook page.
Church Trip
Members of the Sims Chapel Baptist Church, along with Pastor H. Micheal Williams, made a trip to North Myrtle Beach and Little River for a special service and sermon delivered by Rev. Williams. While there, several members enjoyed a visit to one of the church’s oldest members and former Whitmire resident Mrs. Marie Suber. Mrs. Suber recently celebrated her 96th birthday.
