UNION — Catherine Lucille Jennings “Cat” Kennedy, 81, 138 E. Lee St., died Aug. 30, 2012.
A native of Union, she was the widow of Warren David Kennedy and the daughter of the late Rev. Charlie Jennings, Jr. and Mrs. Clorena Stewart Jennings.
Her Christian journey began at the Saint Paul Baptist Church at an early and continued for the last eighteen years at Corinth Baptist Church. She served in a number of capacities. Her primary service was that of organist and Sunday School teacher.
She was a 1949 graduate of Sims High School and a 1954 graduate of Morris College. She completed further studies at Benedict College.
Survivors include two sons, David O’Keith Kennedy and Robert Kennedy, both of the home; two brothers, Rev. Charlie (Dora) Jennings, Jr. of Union and J. Floyd Jennings of the home; one sister, Charlie Mae (Morris) Bobo of Union; and one grandson, Daveon O’Keith Kennedy of Union.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church. Rev. J. Archie Calhoun will officiate. Burial will be in the Beaty Chapel Society Cemetery.
