LOCKHART — A new business in Lockhart will cover any and all of your salon needs.

Heather Brigmon and her mother-in-law Teresa Brigmon are excited about their new business — Locked Hearts beauty and tanning salon. Heather will handle the salon side of things, while Teresa will oversee the tanning portion of business.

The salon will offer all hair services, manicures, pedicures, waxing and, eventually, facials and more. For tanning, the salon will have three traditional tanning beds as well as one high-pressure stand-up bed, with radios in each.

The grand opening of Locked Hearts is scheduled for Sept. 1, and will feature raffles, giveaways, games for kids, drinks and food such as brownies, cookies and chips. Anyone who makes an appointment at the grand opening event will receive 10 percent off his or her first visit.

The salon will be open Tuesday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. through the end of 2012. Starting in January 2013, the salon will be open seven days a week and will offer services such as Mystic spray tanning and Twilight teeth whitening system for tanners.

Stylists at the salon will be Heather — who said she graduated in the top of her cosmetology class with a scholarship — and Michelle Bakley, who is also an experienced stylist. Teresa — who will work in the tanning department — has more than 15 years experience working in tanning.

“Come to Lockhart in a month or two, and everybody is going to be just gorgeous,” Teresa said.

Heather said she has experience with many different product lines, as many will be offered at Locked Hearts. The main product line will be Framesi.

The salon will also offer lots of retail products such as It Works natural fat burning body wraps, Avon products, 31 products and Handmade Bows and Tutus by Melissa. One of each of the products will be raffled during the Sept. 1 grand opening as well as a raffle for a free makeover.

Heather said that she chose to go into the hairdressing field because it allows her to express her creativity and make others feel good about themselves.

“The idea of doing hair has always been with me,” Heather said. “It’s a way to express myself, and I love making people feel good. I had a woman cry on me once, she was so happy about her hair.”

Heather, her husband, A.J., and their two sons technically live in Sharon — on the York County line — although they are actually closer to Lockhart. She originally looked for a vacant building in Sharon, but happened to pass the building in Lockhart on S.C. 9. When she went in to talk with owner Debbie Hill, Hill told her how she was having to shut down the business because the responsibilities had gotten to be too much for one person to handle.

“One thing led to another, and here we are,” Teresa said. “It was a Godsend.”

Heather mentioned that Hill will still be a part of the business, working in the hair salon, although it will be on an infrequent basis.

She said she is excited to be part of the Lockhart community, and she and A.J. recently joined Lockhart First Baptist Church, where Hill is a member and Hill’s husband — the Rev. Ben Hill — is pastor.

“We are looking to be involved in the community,” Heather said. “We are excited to get to know people at Lockhart First Baptist, and they are excited, too. They have been asking when we are going to open.
