Grandmother and granddaughter

Karen Gallman is enjoying time with her granddaughter, Dylan Weaver, at the YMCA in Union. Karen has been training and will be walking in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day, Oct. 19-21, again this year in Atlanta. Her journey through Atlanta will be like taking a walk through history. Atlanta continues to be a place of change, while still holding on to its Southern charm. The town’s hospitality always makes for a great 3-Day experience for all of the participants. They feel right at home, no matter where they come from. Karen has met folks from all around. Join her and take the first step on your 60-mile journey to help fight breast cancer. Register to walk in the 2013 Atlanta 3-Day, taking place Oct. 18-20, 2013. We are so proud of you Karen! 3 DAYS … 60 MILES!

Sis got a part-time job on a cruise ship as a captain; she would take vacationers from Florida to Australia. One day she was cruising past this small deserted island when a ratty looking bearded man came running out waving his arms and shouting. One of the passengers asked Sis, “Who’s that?” Sis answered, “I have no idea, but every time we come by here he goes nuts.”

Happy Belated Birthday

We wish a happy belated birthday to R.E. Gallman IV. He celebrated the big day on Aug. 12. Many happy returns to you.

We had a visitor at church Sunday, A nice lady celebrating her 96th birthday, Mrs. Faye Webber and friends got her dressed for the occasion. They brought her out to Fosters Chapel UMC, and then on to Faye’s for a birthday party. We wish a very special Happy Birthday to Mrs. Bernice “Aunt Bunt” Lawson. Many more to you.

Ice Cream Supper

The folks at Fosters Chapel UMC enjoyed an ice cream supper at the church on Sunday, Aug. 19. The ladies of the church brought churns of homemade ice cream. Those going for three or more bowls were Toney Farr, Sonny Mason, Mike Manus, J.D Bright and Rev. Glenn. This is an annual event and we all look forward to it.
