Luther Alexander Deloach, 24, of 119 Cherry St. turned himself in at the Union Public Safety Department Monday. He is charged with second degree criminal sexual conduct. Deloach's warrant, signed by Investigator Mickey Parker, said Deloach did have sexual battery with a victim who was less than 14 but more than 11 at the Days Inn and the American Economy Inn in Union on Feb. 7, Feb. 14 and Feb. 20.
Capt. Freddie Gault said Deloach brought two 15-year-old boys with him when he came to Union. The boys committed six break-ins at businesses in and around the Merchant’s Walk Shopping Center that were discovered on Feb. 15. Three more attempted break-ins they are charged with were discovered Friday morning.
Friday night they tried to break into Best Check Advance on 745 North Duncan By-Pass, but fled when a burglar alarm activated. Cpl. Scott Coffer later questioned the boys after they reportedly were trying to break into cars at Union Square Cinemas and noticed shoes the boys were wearing matched a print on the door of Best Check Advance.
The boys said they were staying with Deloach, a relative, at American Economy Inn.
Deloach told officers he had no knowledge of the boys’ illegal activities.
Gault said further investigation revealed that Deloach had been coming to Union, picking the girl up at her home and taking her to motels.
