Well, Lockhart has a new little resident. Tony and Lisa Lawson had a baby boy, Aug. 16. His name is Mason Lane (they might spell it different), he weighed 7 lbs. 4 oz. He has a big brother named Jack, and proud grandparents Nancy and Robert (Greasy) Lawson. Congratulations!

Sympathies

I just heard that we lost a dear, dear friend, this week. Jabo Steen passed away. To his family, I am saying that I will really miss him and I’m am so sorry for your loss.

Marriage

I heard that Adam Parkins will be getting married June 1, 2013. He ‘s just located a job at a hospital in Columbia, I know Chester Hospital will miss him. I wish the best for Adam and Allison.

In The Hospital

Myrtis Young was in the hospital this week. I know she wasn’t feeling well last week, so I really hope they found her problem and made her well.

Birthdays

Ollie Burns will turn 17 on the 23 of August and is now doing her senior year in high school. I forgot to wish Joyce Crocker a happy birthday, and it was the same as mine, Aug.17. So Joyce, Happy Belated. Leigh Williams and Jeff Reynolds will be having one on Aug. 29.

Chicken Dinners

The Lockhart Masonic Lodge sold chicken dinners on Saturday, Aug. 18, and if you missed it maybe I’ll know when the next chicken dinner will be and let you know where to buy a ticket.

Lockhart Fire Department is going to have the First Annual Corn Hole, on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. It’s going to be a double elimination. Entry fee will be $15 per team. First and second place will be awarded a trophy. They will also be selling hot dog plates and drinks. Deadline for registration is Sept 11 at 5 p.m. Call Toby Childers at 466-7581 or Lee Brannon at 426-8261. Proceeds will go to buy equipment for fire department.

Surprised

I should have added this with the birthdays, but anyway, Wednesday morning I was in my driveway, just getting ready to go to Union, when Brenda Jenkins called me and asked me to come to the Town Hall to sign some checks, when I got there everyone was gathered in the mayor’s office, so I walked in and guess what?! They sang Happy Birthday to me. (Now my birthday was last week )

This was so thoughtful, we all sat in the meeting room and had Pepsi and homemade peanut butter fudge that Aileen made before coming to work. They gave me a replica of the Lockhart Mill Bell, 1896. That was just a wonderful gift. Thank you. Brenda made me a card on the computer, and it was signed by Aileen, Brenda, Hugh Gregory, DA McCloud, Brad Jennings, and Robert Palmer (who just came by and got caught in the middle of it all). What a way to start a day.

To The Chiropractor

After that I was off to see the chiropactor, Dr. Brigette Sherman, and her trusty helper, Eva.

Now she’s working on the leg that did the splits for me. It’s improving, little by little. After all my body was not made to do the splits. It really was hurting in the top part of my leg, but now it’s settling around the knees, but pretty soon it will just keep moving downward until the pain is out of my body (toes).

Honestly, she can find the sore spots and work on them. I know she wishes I wasn’t so clumsy, and keep harming myself. But if she fixes all my aches, she would just miss me. I told her that I can’t seem to get in to see my doctor, so since I can just walk into her place, she just has to take his place.

Lost In Another City

Remember how I won’t go to Gaffney, because I kept getting lost? Well, I went to Rock Hill the other day, and after I found the building I was looking for, I decided to go over to Best Buy and Target. Well I was totally lost at that point. I was there once, but couldn’t remember how I got there.

Stopped to ask directions, and the guy at the convenient store is probably still laughing, because he had me on a wild goose chase, as if I couldn’t do that on my own. Finally I found a nice lady that told me to get on 77 and off at the next exit, and there it was. Now I knew how to get back home. So I know one way in and one way out. I will not venture far from Cherry Road.

Deer In The City

I saw three deer on the road from Target to Anderson Road. In the City! I did not see any on the country road coming home, though.

Cutting Hair

Well I haven’t seen Chuck in a while. He’s working seven days a week on third shift. He came in the shop Sunday for a little while, but I was so busy I didn’t ask him how it was going. But I was so crowded that he enjoyed himself with all the other guys, there were three from the Lockhart Fire Department so they had plenty to talk about, and of course Chuck offered to cut their hair. I guess if you can cut grass you can cut hair, according to Chuck. My son thought that since he’d been raised in a beauty shop, he could cut all his buddies hair also (years ago), and the next day they were lined up to let me straighten them out.

Back In School

Well, all the kids are in school. They were so anxious to get started, I guess they got bored over the summer. By next week most of them will be wondering when vacation time is. One of my customer’s granddaughters, who is 6, came home the second day of school and told her mom that school was sucking the life out of her. Out of the mouth of babes.

Well, as usual it’s late, so I’ll say good night, and sorry this is so short, maybe I’ll do better later. 545-6652.
