Because of local industrial growth and economic development, Union County’s Recycling Convenience Center located on SC 18 will close on Sunday, Aug. 26.
Household waste and cardboard only will be accepted at a temporary site — located across from the old location — beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 4. The temporary site will eventually be upgraded to a new state-of-the-art site.
Upgrading will not be started until after the new construction for Gonvauto is complete and the rail line is in. Please remember the site will be closed the last week of August as we replace rower lines and tear down some existing buildings. We will reopen Sept. 4, the Tuesday after Labor Day
Meanwhile, all electronic waste (televisions, computers, etc.) and citizen’s tires will be accepted at our Sardis Road location only. This site is next door to the airport. You may also visit one of the other nine sites located throughout Union County for all other disposal needs.
Please excuse this inconvenience and work with us as we transition through this period of growth and development for a better Union County.
