Making a flower
A participant in the Union County Carnegie Library's Adult Summer Reading Program's Crochet Class crochets a flower during the class which was held July 19. Participants crocheted the flowers under the direction of instructor Andrea Justice. The program was sponsored by the Union Rotary Club.

THE MARISHA SHARAY JETER SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION will hold a Cheer Camp Friday, from 9 a.m.-noon at the Union County Recreation Department. There will be a meet and greet with some of the USC Gamecock Cheerleaders and an appearance by the Union County High Cheerleaders! All money raised from the fees charged particiants will go to the Marisha Sharay Jeter Scholarship Foundation. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and a snack. THE DESCENDANTS OF JOSEPH (JOE) AND CARRIE LAWSON PARKS will gather for their second annual Family Reunion at the New Life Baptist Church Social Hall. Please bring your covered dish by 11:30 a.m., and lunch will be served at noon.

VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA will hold a Fish Fry Fundraiser at the Monarch Fire Department from 11 a.m.-until. Each plate comes with flounder, french fries, cole slaw, hush puppies, and a drink. Eat in or take out.

TIMKEN SPORTS COMPLEX will host a meeting at 5 p.m. about upcoming youth boys, youth girls and men’s softball leagues. All three leagues will begin play during the first week in September. THE UNION HOSPITAL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND FINANCE COMMITTEE will hold a joint meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

TORRINGTON/TIMKEN RETIREES will meet a 6 p.m. at the Forest Street Grill in Jonesville.

AMERICAN LEGION POST 87 will meet in The Flats in Buffalo at 7 p.m.

THE SIMS HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1968 will have their class picnic beginning at 1 p.m. at Foster Park, Shed #4. For addtional information feel free to call 674-6799. See you there.

THE JONESVILLE HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1982 will have their 30th reunion from 6:30 p.m.-midnight at the home of Kay Faucette Fowler, 297 C Fowler Drive, Jonesville, off of Pea Ridge Highway. THE NEW EMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH has opened a free clothes closet in the back of the Municipal Building in Jonesville. Hours of operation will be Tuesday and Friday 9:30 a.m.-noon.
