Devin Booker scored 27 points and pulled down 22 rebounds as the Union County Yellow Jackets dominated Seneca 91-69 in the first round of the state playoffs on Tuesday.
UCHS led 26-6 after one quarter, led by 23 points at the half and was up by as many as 31 in the fourth quarter. And coach Joe Pitt got to clear the bench in a playoff game.
“Just a big first round win for us,” said Pitt. “We jumped on them hard.”
Desmond Floyd scored 22 points and Brandon Stapleton added 18. Michael Mebane and Kevin Means each scored eight points, Joe Beatty had four, Raymond Antigua and Victor Ruth each had two.
Stapleton had four 3-pointers, Mebane and Means each had one. Means had seven assists. Stapleton had five steals.
Michael Earle led the Bobcats (14-9) with 24 points and Jamel Smith added 11.
The Jackets (15-8) travel to J.L. Mann on Friday as the playoffs continue. Mann is a familiar foe, a former region rival.
