Saturday, July 28, from 8-10 a.m. Janice’s Health Walk & Breakfast will be held at Veterans Park. Lunch will be served from 1-3 p.m. at the Pacolet River Association Building on Lovers Lane Road, Union. The Family Banquet will be held from 6:30 p.m.-unil at the Pacolet River Association Building. FOSTER CHAPEL ENTERPRISE LODGE #460 and LADY ESTHER CHAPTER #353 will hold the 2012 “There’s No Stopping Us Now” register to vote drive from noon-2 p.m. at the old Jonesville High School parking lot. Free hot dogs and drinks to everyone who registers.

JULY 30

FOSTER PARK PRECINCT WARD I BOX 1 will meet at 6 p.m. at the Union County Democratic Party headquarters, East Main St., Union. The purpose of the meeting will be to organize the precinct for the November election. The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served. AUGUST 4

THE DESCENDANTS OF JOSEPH (JOE) AND CARRIE LAWSON PARKS will gather for their second annual Family Reunion at the New Life Baptist Church Social Hall. Please bring your covered dish by 11:30 a.m., and lunch will be served at noon.

VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA will hold a Fish Fry Fundraiser at the Monarch Fire Department from 11 a.m.-until. Each plate comes with flounder, french fries, cole slaw, hush puppies, and a drink. Eat in or take out.

TIMKEN SPORTS COMPLEX will host a meeting at 5 p.m. about upcoming youth boys, youth girls and men’s softball leagues. All three leagues will begin play during the first week in September. THE JONESVILLE HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1982 will have their 30th reunion from 6:30 p.m.-midnight at the home of Kay Faucette Fowler, 297 C Fowler Drive, Jonesville, off of Pea Ridge Highway. THE UNION COUNTY RECREATION DEPARTMENT is looking for volunteer cheer leading coaches for its annual Flag/Stinger Cheerleading Program. Volunteers must be reliable and able to devote 3-5 hours per week to practice and/or games. All volunteers will be required to have a city and county background check. A VETERANS ADVOCATE is in Union every third Friday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the One Stop, 440 Duncan Hwy., to discuss eligibility for health care, pension, disability and more.

THE NEW EMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH has opened a free clothes closet in the back of the Municipal Building in Jonesville. Hours of operation will be Tuesday and Friday 9:30 a.m.-noon.
